But Anyone CAN and Should Donate!

Our goal is to raise a combined total of $7,500.00 for these two charities, they need your help! Please donate whether you can participate in the Poker Run.

To enter the poker run, please visit our website in the members section and make at least one donation to either of the two charities, (or both if you like) by clicking on the appropriate link.  Minimum donation is $75.00 ($1.00 per year for our 75 years).  You can increase your chances of winning by making additional donations in the amount of at least $75.00 for additional poker hands.  The more the donations, the better we help these two Organisations and the better your odds of winning the grand prize!

100% of your donations will go directly to these two organisations. You will be issued a receipt and the charitable organisation will provide a notification to the Executive Committee of your donation.  DONATIONS MUST BE MADE BY JULY 23rd. for Entry in the Poker Run. Of course, additional Donations would be gladly accepted afterwards.  Shore members may participate by making donations as above.

Card pick up for shore members will be various places on the grounds of the Lord reading Yacht Club that will be well indicated.
Boating members will be given instructions to the ‘pick-up’ points out on the lake that will be fairly close to the club.  This race is NOT about speed, but whoever manages to pick up the best poker hand.  At each pick up point, the player will be handed a sealed envelope.  If the player has made additional donations, they will be handed sealed envelopes to match the number of hands allowed to be played.  Each sealed envelope contains 1 playing card.    All envelopes must remain sealed until the race is finished.

The sealed envelopes must be brought to the deck and handed over to our event coordinator, Daniel Arsenault.  Dan will open the envelopes and mark the name of the player and boat name on the official score board and place the hand on the score board.  For shore members:  There will be pick up points indicated on the grounds of the LRYC club.  At each check point a player will be handed a sealed envelope containing 1 player card.  The envelopes must remain sealed, after all 5 cards are picked up, the player will bring their sealed envelopes to our Event coordinator, Daniel Arsenault.  Dan will un-seal the envelopes, mark the players name and place the poker hand on the official score board.

The day of the Poker run first steps:  Participating boaters and shore members will be asked to gather on the lawn of the LRYC at 12:30 PM.  At precisely 1:00 PM all participants will have a final briefing of the rules of the poker run.  Departure for boating participants from the harbour will be managed by The Harbour Master, Mark Edwards.  Departure will be staggered to avoid any incidents.  Remember, this is NOT about speed, but who gets the best poker hand.  The harbour master will hand the boat team the map of pick-up points on the lake after the 1:00 PM briefing and final check in of all players.  There will be a member of the executive committee at each of the spots indicated.  Players will be checked into the check point and handed their sealed envelopes.  All stops must be completed in order to collect the 5-card poker hand.  Additional Sealed envelopes will be given if the player has made extra donations.

BOATERS:  ONCE YOU HAVE   PICKED  up  all your sealed envelopes, return to the harbour.  Confirm your intention to return to the harbour by calling in your boat to radio 68 (or calling cell phone number of Mark Edwards) and request permission to return to the Harbour.  The harbour master will confirm your return and depending on boater traffic, provide you with a time for arrival.

Our Commodore, Don Wagner will be standing at the T section at the end of Center Main dock, indicated by the COMMODORE FLAG.  Please navigate your boat safely near the T section. All members on the boat shall SALUTE the commodore and honk your horn, and safely return to your slip. Friendly reminder: As always Captains are responsible for the safety of their vessels and crew.

Once your boat has been secured in your slip, bring your sealed envelopes to the Deck for verification by Daniel Arsenault.  Once you have checked in you may return to your boat and prepare your boat for illumination night ceremony (decorating your boat with as many lights/patio lanterns or other festive lighting).  Shore Members:  Once you have collected all your sealed envelopes, bring them to the deck for verification by Daniel Arsenault.  Please feel free to volunteer to help finish up clubhouse and grounds decoration for the Illumination light ceremony.

Once all boaters and shore members sealed envelopes are collected and verified, a winner will be announced by our Commodore, Don Wagner.  Food services will be provided by Les 3 Soeurs.  Please reserve your food online by using the link on our website.

Live music will start at 7:00 PM sharp.  At Sunset, the Commodore, Don Wagner, will turn on the lights on the grounds which will signal to all boaters to light up their boats. Enjoy the music, festivities and the lights!
